hi my name is Ryan wells I’m the owner
00:02
of a local fish store located in wind in
00:04
Utah now I’m going to show you how to do
00:06
a general water change on your saltwater
00:07
tank basically what I’m going to do is
00:09
take out five gallons of my water which
00:11
is polluted in essence and replace it
00:13
with five gallons of clean water first
00:16
thing I’m going to do is I have my hose
00:17
here create a siphon I have a five
00:19
gallon bucket that I’m just going to
00:20
drain that five gallons into
00:24
[Music]
00:38
here you can see this is the water that
00:41
I’ve just taken out of the fish tank if
00:43
you notice how it has kind of a yellow
00:44
or greenish tint to it
00:45
that’s the organic pollutants in it this
00:48
is why it’s important to do regular
00:49
water changes the tank on the other side
00:51
is brand new clean fresh water salt
00:54
freshly made salt water what the idea is
00:57
when you’re doing a water change is
00:58
you’re removing polluted water and
01:00
adding clean fresh water to the system
01:02
now what I’m going to do is I’m going to
01:04
replace that water I just took out with
01:06
five gallons of clean brand new
01:08
saltwater the way I do this is by
01:11
dumping this into my sump located
01:13
directly underneath my tank
